Dried Pasilla Chili Pepper "Xatzé" 75 g.

The pasilla chili pepper is a type of dried chili with dark, wrinkled skin. It is traditionally ground to make a wide variety of sauces, such as borracha, moles and marinades, among others. In its fresh form it is called chilaca. It is believed that its name is due to the fact that, when it dries, it wrinkles like a raisin. In some regions such as Michoacán or Baja California it is also known as black pepper, and in Veracruz, prieto pepper, not to be confused with the Oaxacan pasilla pepper, nor with the poblano or ancho pepper, called «pasilla» in Colima. It is grown mainly in the states of Aguascalientes, Guanajuato, Jalisco, Nayarit, Oaxaca and Zacatecas.
